About
ZINIEL Vineyards Wine with personality For us, wine is not simply a matter of market-related production and marketing but rather a craft related to region, climate and landscape. Running our family winery estate for generations we have always and solely used the grapes of our own vineyards on exclusive, regional sites for our typical wines. It is not the latest technique of vinification procedures that is reflected in our wines but the typical gravelly and calcareous soil of the Seewinkel area. Precisely because personality means more than just optimising characteristics, we strictly avoid any interference into the the particular flora and fauna of our vineyards. Instead of fighting against plant pests we foster beneficial organisms and instead of using artificial fertilizers, we have used animal manure as fertilizer for 30 years. The combination of careful manual work and traditional pressing produces genuine, long-lasting and purist wines, which are not intended to satisfy any short-lived market trends but to express their distinctive origin. In order to achieve what the French call “goût de terroir” we are willing to accept small yields. The economic size of our vineyards (18 ha) allows us to pursue this philosophy without the need to communicate quality via prices. A further aspect of regional sustainability is stressed by our preference of longstanding partnerships with regular customers in sale on the premise, with the specialist wine trade and the gastronomy. We are committed to our craft and not to sales figures. The Ziniel Family
