Description
Dark ruby red with an opaque rim. Delicate aromas of blackberries and dark cherries combined with a herbal spiciness and elegant oak aging influence. Very elegant and long on palate. Silky and well structured tannins. The impression is long-lasting and all-over the palate.

Vineyard
Very favourable for Blaufränkisch: Limy sediments as a parent rock and finely granulated, plant-active limestone throughout the whole soil make for a very high soil pH value. The topsoil has a considerable gravel content while the subsoil consists mainly of rich ‘chernozem’ black earth.
Vinification
fermentation in stainless steel tanks at round 28°C. Skin contact for 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation soon after alcohlic fermentation. Aging in 500 liter French oak barrels with medium toasting for 12 months. Around 1/3 new oak and 2/3 older barrels.
