Vineyard: Ried Bärnreiser
The Ried Bärnreiser is located on the eastern slope of the Danube gravel terrace of the Arbesthaler hill chain without direct forest boundaries. The name is derived from the Middle High German "Reisern", which indicates that on this barren, gravelly and hot location the natural vegetation consisted only of brushwood and brushwood. On the upper slope there is quartz gravel - fine gravel, which in places also covers the finer-grained Miocene deposits (Pannonian) of clay-silt and sand lying below. The soils are very calcareous and deep beneath the gravel layers, which gives the wines a special complexity.
Vinification
Fermentation: Spontaneous fermentation on the skins followed by malolactic fermentation in barriques. OLD VINIFICATION: 18 months in French barriques
Food Pairing
An elegant accompaniment to dark game, steaks and all dark meats (e.g. lamb) and mature cheeses.
